Drip and Culture Small Business Growth Initiative Grant Award

So, a really awesome thing happened.
We were selected by the Lake County Community Foundation (LCCF) to receive a $50k grant as a part of their pilot Small Business Growth Initiative (SBGI). The goal of the SBGI program is to provide access to capital for entrepreneurs in black and brown communities that allows them to expand their operations. LCCF is also committed to addressing racial wealth disparities and contributing to social change in our county.
When we opened the shop, our goal was to create a space where entrepreneurship could flourish and support a broader community and economic development ecosystem in Waukegan. Not only will we be using the funds to create a new coffee bar inside Supermercardo Gonzalez, but we will also invest in entrepreneurs that we believe have great products and need strategic guidance.  We desire to show how businesses can create grassroots movements that leverage grant dollars to support entrepreneurs and innovators on small scales.
Many thanks to Maggie Morales, Courtney Combs, Emily Weber of the Lake County Community Foundation, members of their Board, and all of you for your continued support. Nydia and I are just two people chasing a dream, and we are thrilled to be on this journey with you.
We have hired AKL Architectural Services to help design our new space, and we are pumped to begin the journey.
Stay tuned for more.
